Differences between Hot Rolled Steel Plate and Cold Steel Plate

1. Hot rolled steel plate comes with low hardness, but features easy processing and good ductility. Conversely, cold rolled steel plate comes with high hardness, but hard to deformation with higher intensity.
2. Hot rolled steel plate is relatively low in intensity and poor in surface quality. However, cold rolled steel plate comes with high intensity and bright surface, and can be used for stamping.
3. Cold rolled steel plate comes with work hardening and low toughness, but can reach to a better yield ratio. Therefore it can be used for components like spring lamination. But in application, problems will appear if the yield ratio is close to tensile strength.
4. Usually, hot rolled steel plate is medium thickness steel plate and its thickness is about 2.0mm, while cold rolled steel plate is thin steel plate with thickness ranging from 0.3mm to 3.0mm.
